OUR DIARY PAGE
Tuesday 9th September
Well the weather here in Wales has been lovely for the past few weeks but this week we have seen a bit of well needed rain.
The produce is yielding so well we are up to our necks in runner beans, yesterday I froze about 6 bags, today I have picked our first sweet corn and it was lovely, I ate it for lunch!!!
We have lots of aubergines, courgettes and tomatoes, just planted some winter lettuce and another batch of lollo rosso which we love, we have also been tying oinions today so that they can dry.
The Hens are fine, seems that the smallest one is being bullied a bit, but they are growing so fast now, one (Henrietta) is very friendly and will come to me now, she likes me to move the earth about so that she can catch the worms and beetles, they are getting quite tame now, cant wait till they start to lay.
The Rosette side of things is now going into full swing we move the machines over this weekend and the outbuilding has been finished to accomadate all the stuff that we need, we have also got 4 orders for the start of October, it is a bit scary but exciting all the same, so if you want a rosette for any reason, Birthday, Christmas, Wedding or event please let me know and we will make to order!!!

Saturday 16th Aug
Its been lovely here all week, I cut the lawns but they seem to have grown again so quick!
My sweetcorn are nearly ready they have done very well in the poly tunnel, the tomatoes are going mad and the courgettes, my celery looks good and I have planted out my fennel, I will be picking the aubergines soon, I cant believe how much fruit is on one aubergine plant one has got 9 aubergines on it and its not very big. I have had 9 cucumbers from one plant and they are really crispy, yesterday I did another jar of beetroot, we have also had some broad beans and I have a good crop of peas to freeze. The runner beans are looking batter after a feed, we have got beans coming now so it will not be long before we have some!
As for the chooks, friends of ours came up on Thursday and they took one look at them and said that we have got 2 cockerels and 2 hens.........so the 2 boys will have to go they are rather nasty to the girls anyway and we did think something was different about them, but not thatthey were lads!!!!!! They will be gone by tonight and 2 new hens from the same brood will be arriving!!!
Thats about it for this week!

Thursday 7th Aug
Phew its a hot one here today, we have just drained the pool as the water had gone green, it seems that we need some stuff for the water which I have ordered, it is filling as I type!
Well yesterday here was very odd we had fog all day and it was not as warm as the rest of the country, today is a bit different!
Whilst watering last night I noticed some puff balls in the field next door, so I picked them sliced them and fried them for tea, with a nice bit of steak, home grown courgettes, tomatoes and lettuce!!(see produce page for pic!)
Our runner beans seem to be taking an age, we were late putting them in but it seems that they have lots of flowers on them and the bees have been visiting lots!
The chooks are settling in just fine, it seems that we may have a bully amongst them so will keep my eye on her! They have started to use the perch too and when I go and to shut them up at night they are all in and ready for bed!!
Thats if for now!

Sunday 3rd Aug
I hate Sundays!!!!
Looks like we are going to have to cut the lawns again, all this rain we have had has made everything grow like mad!!
We are thinking of putting a natural pond area in at the bottom of the garden, we want to just leave it for the huge amount of wildlife that we have around here.
On doing my nightly walk about I nearly stood on a huge frog!! He was massive!!, Gladys the dog sniffed at it and it put its hands over its eyes!!
The chooks are fine and they have started to use the perch without being shown what to do!! They are so amusing to watch, and every one is different as we are getting use to them, they do come out if you talk to them and dont run away anymore, hurry up and lay!!
Lovely here today in West Wales.

Friday 1st Aug
Well I cant believe its the first of the month already!!!! Where does the time go to?
We have not done much in the garden this week as it has been soooo wet! We are looking forward to a sunny weekend so the kids can get in the pool!!
As for the garden front, well not much has been happening there, we seem to have lots of catapillers on our lettuce that we have in the tunnel so I sprayed them yseterday with a mix of 1 part washing up liquid to 10 parts water, and I will check to see if that has helped.
Our broad beans are nearly ready and I managed to pick 2 very nice oinions yesterday as well, they were really sweet, the peas have run mad and are over growing covering the beets up so I am going to tie them back today, and it looks like we have got a mole at the base of the beds!!! I must think of a name for him!
The chooks are doing really well, their feathers are looking so much better, I think that they were being feather pecked but are now settling in quite nicely.
Have a good weekend!

Sun 27th July
At last its dry here!!!!! We have managed to cut the lawns today and it all looks much nicer even though we started at 2 and finished at 6 and that was with a ride on mower!!
We thought that we would have a treat and go to New Quay for a fish supper, whilst sat eating our tea we saw 4 Dolphins just off the coast, it was a lovely sunset and a very nice end to a busy day.
I have planted 12 more tomato plants in growbags to see how they like it, our others seem very very slow. We also picked another cucumber today and pulled enough beetroot for another jar of pickled! I also finished off the home made wine and managed to save 4 bottles ready for Christmas! HIC!

Sat 26th July
Another very wet day here in West Wales, still cant get to do much in the garden.
We have managed to finish off the chook run and have put the house in there ready for them, it looks like we will be off to get some on Monday, so I will take lots of photos to post here so that we can all watch their progress!!!
We had a trip to Aberystwyth today, quite busy in the town so we did not stay long!
Our other row of beetroot and carrots has stared to look better and the aubergines have set really well, they seem to have lots and lots of flowers on this year so I am off to find a good recipe for ragout!

25th July
We are just finishing off the chook run so that we can go and get some chooks next week, it seems that we have a place near here that sells Black Rocks, so we are off to see what they are like.
As for the garden, well I still have not done much at all, everything is growing like mad and we are enjoying the fruits of our labour!!

Well today is the 23rd of July and its been raining all day.
Went and checked the garden, and the grass needs cutting, some of our shrubs have been blown over in the wind, so we tied them up.
Looks like it has just started to clear up, so I am off to water the poly tunnel!
